    I finally whipped up all three amigurumi from this cute pattern (ravelry link here), and they are so adorable, just as I’ve imagined!:)

    ]]>     It has been a busy month for me, some of you might have already known that I’m preparing my big move to Japan for a year… *exciting* ^^

    It is also a month without my Janome, I already packed it away, but not sure how I can get it shipped to Japan yet…

    Without my sewing machine in my creative space, and still lacking the right hook sizes for my crochet projects, I turned my attention to my recent online purchase – Origami Jewelry: More Than 40 Exquisite Designs to Fold and Wear.

    Modular earrings

    Each earring is made out of 3 modular origami pieces.

    This design is from the book, but combinations are endless with the use of modular pieces.

    Origami Beads

    I also prepared 2 origami beads for another pair of earrings, I really like this print!

    They are in fact quite easy to make but require a lot of attention to details! I enjoyed making them, they would make such perfect last minute gifts!:D

    I really recommend the book Origami Jewelry, it’s step-by-step instructions are so easy to follow, even if you’ve never tried origami before! Or you can try my Origami Heart Earrings tutorial first to see if you like it before investing in the book!

    This neck piece is a birthday present for my boyfriend’s mum, yet to send it off, but I hope she’ll like it as much as I do! ^^

    ]]>     Irene (from Missy Minzy)’s baby Peanut is due in a week or 2, so I made her this baby bib (she got it in her mail yesterday!)…

    Bib - Pink side

    This bib is reversible, so there’s not really a front or back.

    I quilted the batting onto a green mouse fabric, cos I think a bib would be washed quite often, I didn’t want to use iron-on! The sewing lines are not exactly diagonal, but I think it turned out pretty good!:)

    I attached a stamp tag of the birthday girl’s name onto the pink side and I think the running stitches around the edge also gave it a nice touch!

    This is my first attempt at making a bib, I initially thought it’s a bit small, but maybe just perfect for a new born!! The bib is based off this pattern from a Japanese website.

    After making the bib for Peanut, my sewing machine is officially packed away due to moving!!! So I turned my attention back to crocheting again! :P

    Incomplete black beanie

    However this is another failed attempt of a crocheting a beanie, it’s once again TOO BIG! Probably due to my crochet hook being fatter than what the pattern suggested, I really need to go and buy a set, it’s so annoying not having the right hook size!!

    • ]]>     A friend asked me why aren’t I making a dog amigurumi after seeing my amineko (my friend is a dog person!), so here it is… a dog finger puppet!

    This is for my friend as a farewell present (he’s going to work in Japan!), and only after I gave it away I realised I have completely forgotten to attach a tail!!!!!><

    This amigurumi is based off his tiger finger puppet pattern I found on ravelry, I modified the nose and ears to make it into a dog! If you are not a member, here is a direct link to the pattern.

    • ]]>     I’ve been neglecting my poor sewing machine so so much… too occupied by my crocheting projects xD

    With crocheting… it’s stitch by stitch… slow and can be painful in times… although I still enjoy it very much, I do miss sewing, where a project can be put together quickly! So, I gave crocheting a little break and whipped up this cute little coin purse^0^

    I’ve had this Happy Matryoshka Dolls fabric for a while now, can’t believe it’s the first time I’m making something with it! I like this print so much!!^^

    The pattern I’m using is from かんたんニットワードローブあき・ふゆ – “Simple Knit Wardrobe: Autumn/Winter vol.2″ (ISBN: 4529046125/9784529046121), it is one of the few in the book that I can understand, so I decided to give it a go…

    Attempt to crochet a beanie

    I followed it exactly not noticing that I need to adjust the pattern as I’m using a yarn type and hook size different from what is suggested!

    Too big!!

    After 4 nights of hard work, my half-completed beanie is looking a bit too big, more like a basket, so I measured it – the circumference of my beanie is exactly 8 cm bigger then that the pattern says it should be… and I don’t have a big head…><

    Disappointed, but not discouraged:)
    At least I've learnt how to read crochet charts and next time I'll know that I need to adjust the pattern accordingly!! I'm off to try other patterns!^0^

    PS. I redid the face for Peanut, he was looking too much like a thief :P Now he just looks sleepy…

    • ]]>     I am ashamed… for not having the courage to try zippers after sewing for half a year now! After some encouragement from my friend Minh, I finally took the challenge! ^0^

    Shell pouches

    Do you like my shell pouches? I end up making two!

    Except that the seams are a bit wiggly when attaching the zippers, I’m quite happy with how they turned out – Puffy & cute!! As a zipper first timer, I probably should have picked a straight opening pouch project, but oh wells :P

    Pouch bottom

    I really like how the bottom is finished off! :D

    The small one is a bit tiny, can be used as a coin purse I think, and the bigger pouch is a good size for anything!!

    The shell pouches are based off the pattern from this tutorial – instructions are only in Japanese, but the photos are quite self-explanatory!

    PS. I thought I’ll take a break from my crochet posts despite my massive obsession! ^0^ Hope you are having a lovely weekend!
